I had enough just surviving and determined it was the year for thriving. I would find my purpose and pursue it with boldness. 2011 slapped me around a little bit – first the tornadoes in April, then the new “accommodations” while we recovered from the tornadoes, then my mom getting sick and going in to Hospice right in the middle of the holidays. I could still feel some movement, but not enough to make anyone notice.
It was time to take up my own banner and pursue my passion to purpose with a boldness that refused to let the world say it was not possible.
How to PUSH to Purpose and Thrive in 2012
-
- Push someone else. There is something that encourages my heart when I am in a position to encourage someone else to purpose. I have volunteered to lead a beginners writing group at the library. Successful Freelance Writer is hosting an online writing group once a month. And I have been asked to help teach a Sunday school class at church. The more I can do for others the more I find I do in my own life.
- Make a Map. I will never know when I arrive if I have no idea of where I am going. Putting together a business plan for my life – or a life plan if you want to call it that – will give me the ability to take the right steps at the right time and to know when I have taken the step that leads across the finish line.
- Refuse to stop. A body in motion stays in motion. The moment I stop pursuing my purpose is the moment I take away the very momentum that makes it possible to move. I have to keep going to keep going – no matter how small the movement. One more thing, or one more step, or one more sentence can be all that is needed to push me to the place of thriving instead of stalling me out in the valley of surviving.
I can get there. I WILL get there. The only thing standing in the way of my chance to thrive is me and I am choosing to make that change right now. I will learn how to thrive in 2012 and push past surviving to the purpose for which I was created!
