Trying to Stay Focused in the Chaos Last week we stayed busy with my birthday, my brother and his family in town visiting and the regular activities that keep us hoping. I think there may have been one day when the house was not filled with company for 10 hours – but the rest of the busy days have made that one day blurry. Things can get easily sidetracked when focus goes to another issue. Some writing was accomplished over the week, but I know that to keep moving in the direction that I want I have to choose to make writing and speaking MORE of a priority. My week started at The Lakeside Post. It is a regional newspaper that mails out free to those in the community. Reflections is the weekly column that I write and this week I was sharing about predicting the storms, since our area …Continue reading
Growing My Purpose – Week of January 20 2012
My New Year pushed me to give my personal writing all of my focus. That meant stepping away from most of my clients and putting all of my energy into books, novels and blogs. I discovered that I am even more adept at procrastination than I ever imagined possible, but I am working on new habits that will help me break that tendency. I joined the wonderful writers over at The Great Blog Adventure this …Continue reading
From Surviving to Thriving – Finding Purpose in 2012
I had enough just surviving and determined it was the year for thriving. I would find my purpose and pursue it with boldness. 2011 slapped me around a little bit – first the tornadoes in April, then the new “accommodations” while we recovered from the tornadoes, then my mom getting sick and going in to Hospice right in the middle of the holidays. I could still feel some movement, but not enough to make anyone …Continue reading

Finding the Right Limits
The movie “Confessions of a Shopaholic” came on free the other day. My husband sat down with me and watched it – mainly because I think he just did not want to have to get up and move. What I thought was going to be a traditional chic flick turned into a touching and inspirational experience. We had already been moving to a place where there would be less in our lives, but the movie …Continue reading
Finding Peace in Life – The Peculiar Life
Life gets in the way of my plans. I write out the schedule and stay motivated to complete it only to have chaos come rushing in. There was a time when the disturbances and distractions would knock me completely off balance. But I have found the answer. Trust. I am settled in His peace because I know that no matter what the situation might look like, in His hands even the storms become calm. Trust …Continue reading
Overcome by Never Giving In
I did NOT want to write tonight. The day was long and I had dealt with enough already. Top that with three children that were still awake when I got home and all I wanted to do was climb into bed myself. But I had to write. Moving forward when times are tough or just tiring can seem like an impossible task. It would be easier to just say “not tonight” and move on. But …Continue reading
Making the Simple Complicated – Proverbs31.com
My children like to take the simple directions offered in their workbooks and complicate things. I think it may be human nature. “It just has to be more complicated or it does not make sense.” I know the formula for this walk that I am on. I understand the details, and yet I still find myself determined to do it my way. Life is simple. Adding in our questions, rationalizations and opinions makes it difficult. …Continue reading
