Success is One Step Away

If you can believe it then you can achieve it. This is the basic idea behind how the mental attitude will affect your life. If you are focused on negative things – the catastrophes and calamities – then that is what will come your way. If you are focused on the good and the positive then that is what you will get.

When I was in college, I read the book “Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude.” Last night, after twenty years, I started reading it again. My first thought was how I could get the words into my husband’s brain. After all, he’s the half-empty guy, not me. Then I thought that if I could already see the forest for the trees maybe this book could help me reach the goals I have set for myself for 2008.

Even after the first chapter, I want to do more and be more – mostly because I know that I am more. I can wish and hope and dream. I can make lists and schedules. Until I get up and get to doing, nothing will happen. It takes action on my part to make the dream come true.

The book isn’t the answer to my success, but it is like the match that strikes the fuse. It is getting me fired up to take on the world. Find your match and use it every day to help you stay motivated and confident in your dream. Remember that no matter what you dream, it is only one step away from reality. You can’t get there without stepping out.

As for me, I will continue to write. It is my passion, my dream, and my life. And I will send out my words to the world – every day and all the time – until someone recognizes that it is also my gift ;) .

I will not give up. I will not surrender. I will remember that I am doing what I love and that alone is enough to keep me smiling!

Blogger Unleashed is a Site to Behold

Wow! Now I’ve seen it all. Someone is actually willing to help me with my blog and it’s not about parting me from my money – which is a good thing since that’s not likely to happen any time soon.

Blogger Unleashed is a new website dedicated to helping the bloggers of the internet universe. It is not a site for the weak of heart (or those who blush easily – his language can be blunt in many ways!). But it is a great place for those of you who want to know the truth about what works, how, and why!

Blogger Unleashed is definitely turning some heads. It has been nominated for several Blogger’s Choice Awards and is burning of many of the blogging sites. I don’t know if it’s the blunt attitude or the points that are being made that are making the most waves. Both are well worth a visit.

Blog Carnivals Lead to Great Connections

Blog carnivals are a great way to boost your viewers, but even better they open up new blogs for you to view. Over the last year, I have submitted to several carnivals. Many of the carnivals I have just submitted to and then forgotten (maybe making a brief mention of them at the bottom of the blog), but there are a few that really stand out for me.

Writer . . . Interrupted is one of those rare finds. It’s helpful to my spiritual growth, my writing ambitions, and sometimes just my sanity. It has loads of information about writing, some great links, and even a boost or two for my ego (I was one of the blog entries featured on the “best of 2007″ Carnival of Christian Writers!). This is a warm, comforting place to meet friends who are learning to be content where they are.

Sunny at Dandelions and Daydreams is another of the delightful treats I have discovered in this vast internet. When not hosting the Carnival of Christian Women, Sunny is filling the site with great articles, tips, and even a recipe or two.

If you haven’t looked into blog carnivals then start the New Year off right. Find one that matches your target audience and sign up. Remember to check out the other sites featured on the blog carnivals. You may end up getting more from the experience than you ever imagined.

Determination Will Get Me Through

The office is organized. The calendar if filled out. The schedule is ready for action. This year – like most years past – I am making resolutions. The difference is that I’m making them out loud, in writing, and to as many people as I can. I want to be held accountable. I want the world to see what God can do through one heart that is truly working to be dedicated to Him. I want my changes to affect everyone I come in contact with – even if it’s just in the check out line at the grocery store.

Not only am I declaring the changes that will come in 2008, but I’m planning for those changes. There are things that I have to do to get to where I need to be. It would be nice if you could write everything down on a piece of paper, tuck it under you pillow, and have it all come true. It’s just not going to happen that way. It’s not a wish list. It is a work list.

Although this work list coincides with the first of the year, it has been an ongoing project. Cleaning my home, getting my life right (and on schedule) and juggling homeschool and “home work” have not been as easy as I pictured it. There have been LOTS of changes (especially this last year) and I am always prepared for a few more changes. It seems that just when I think I have it all going the way I want it then a change falls in my lap.

That’s okay. I am focused on the path that lies ahead. I am no longer the little engine crying “I think I can” as I push and struggle and moan my way up the mountain. I am the determined engine that will – no ifs, ands or buts are about to get in my way. This is the year that I break out, break through, and break in! Watch out world. I’m coming to get you.
